If your car refrigerant is low you may notice that your HVAC system is struggling to emit cool air. The fact that it has to work harder results in increased fuel consumption, so it’s well worth keeping an eye on to ensure there is sufficient amount left, prior to it running out completely. Air con services are not a part of standardised MOT checks, so often get neglected - we recommend a service at least every two years.
The vehicle’s air con expansion valve works in conjunction with the refrigerant itself. It is responsible for controlling how much refrigerant liquid passes through the system. The flow of too much refrigerant will cause the evaporator core to freeze over, the flow of too little causes the core to become hazardous and overheat compromising the safe running of the AC system.
We have a range of air con expansion valve for all makes and models at Parts for All Cars to ensure your AC system is running as efficiently as possible.
