An ABS system (anti-lock braking system) prevents skidding by helping the car’s tyres grip the road when it comes to a stop. ABS sensors are able to determine when a car wheel is about to stop rotating and begin to skid. To stop the skidding in action the ABS system applies hydraulic valves that continuously separate the brake discs from the brake pads. This action is commonly felt by the driver as ‘pulsing.’
The ABS sensor or wheel sensor observes the speed of the wheels sending this information to the ABS controller. This component then prevents the brakes from locking when in a stationary position.
A healthy braking system is integral to the safety of you, your passengers and other road users, so looking after you ABS sensors is definitely advisable. Shop our expansive range of products for your vehicle today!
